THE PREDICTION
This is more than just a potential banana skin for world number three Alexander Zverev here against clay specialist Federico Delbonis. 31-year-old Delbonis played well to oust in-form Jaume Munar in three sets on Monday and the world number four is a deceptively difficult fie in his favoured surface. 24-year-old Zverev has played, and won, a double match this week to get some clay tennis into his legs but this will be an altogether tough experience on his own on Wednesday. Zverev has previously managed to overcome Delbonis on clay on two occasions, leading the Argentine 2-0 in their head-to-head with wins at the Geneva Open and Hamburg Open in 2019. Both matches came close, though, and backing Zverev to win outright is not as cautious as it may appear. It could be worth taking a one-off punt on Delbonis to snatch a set, although with a tiebreak in each of their previous meetings it could be wiser to take at least one here and leave the winner up to chance.
