THE PREDICTION

24-year-old Alex de Minaur comes into the Shanghai Masters at a career-high ATP world ranking of 11th after enjoying his best, most consistent season on tour. The Aussie won his most prestigious of six ATP titles at the Mexican pen back in February and he has claimed more top 10 wins than ever before as he gets perilously close to making that milestone for himself. World number 91 Fabian Marozsan set a career-high ATP world ranking of 82nd earlier this season after stunning Carlos Alcaraz at the Italian Open on his favoured clay but he has impressed in fleeting appearances on other surfaces too. A straight-sets victory over Arthur Rinderknech was an impressive way to make his Shanghai Masters debut but this looks too steep of a challenge against De Minaur, who has lost four of his last six ATP tour matches to top 10 players including finals in Los Cabos and Toronto. Back the Aussie to win in straight sets.
