THE PREDICTION
Former world number 10 Emma Raducanu enjoyed her best, most convincing set of matches since her miracle US Open campaign of 2021 with two huge comebacks over Caroline Garcia and Diane Parry on French clay last weekend – helping Great Britain to a first Billie Jean King Cup tie win in France. The 21-year-old has rarely been outplayed since making her explosive tour debut in the summer of 2021 but a series of hampering injuries and resultant surgeries has seen her miss the majority of the past two years. That leaves many more questions than answers as to her efficacy across the tour but her incredible ability cannot be questioned after another confidence-boosting win over former number one Angelique Kerber on Wednesday, where she conceded just three games against another home hopeful in Stuttgart.
World number 31 Linda Noskova similarly stunned Jelena Ostapenko to the tune of just four conceded games on Tuesday but the Czech, thriving as an underdog in big matches this season, will have to cope with playing favourite in this likely thriller. The 19-year-old lost to the Brit in the first round of Roland-Garros two years ago in three tight sets to suggest this will be another lengthy battle. Back Raducanu to win at least a set here, with the better recent form on clay, to leave the victor up to chance.
