EMMA NAVARRO VS ARYNA SABALENKA PREDICTION

Emma Navarro is enjoying a fantastic 2024 and the 23-year-old American has come through a really tough draw to reach this stage. She has beaten Marta Kostyuk, Coco Gauff and Paula Badosa in her last three matches and she is looking incredibly strong in her play right now.

She now meets Aryna Sabalenka who is understandably one of the favourites to win the title in New York. The Belarussian’s quarter of the draw has arguably not been as hard as Navarro’s, but she has been impressive nonetheless. She dominated Qinwen Zheng in the quarters winning 6-1 6-2 so send out a warning shot that she really does mean business in their tournament.

The pair have only met twice on the WTA Tour and both meetings have come this year. The first came at Indian Wells on hard courts where Navarro won in three sets. They had a rematch shortly after that on clay at Roland Garros and it was Sabalenka who took the honours in straight sets.

Navarro is enjoying a career-best year and she is showing she can really compete with the very best especially on grass and hard courts. Sabalenka has been there and done it, and after losing the final last year, she is certainly capable of going one better. She has won the last two years in Australia on hard courts and it is a matter of time before she does it in New York.

Navarro is class and there is so much to like about her game. It would not surprise us however if she just runs out of gas a little here after a tough few matches and Sabalenka overpowers her. It is the more experienced Belarussian that gets the nod from us.
