THE LOWDOWN

ELENA RYBAKINA

Elena Rybakina stunned the recently-installed tournament favourite Simona Halep in the semi-finals with a magnificent straight-sets victory to set up her first ever Grand Slam final and she goes into this match with plenty of confidence after such a commanding performance.

ONS JABEUR

For a second match running, Ons Jabeur was made to work for victory but she ultimately navigated her way past Tatjana Maria in straight sets and the Tunisian will now also be featuring in the first Major final of her career.

THE PREDICTION

A new Grand Slam champion will be crowned on Saturday with both Elena Rybakina and Ons Jabeur breaking new ground at Wimbledon this year. You could make a strong case for either player as Jabeur has looked machine-like at times in the past fortnight but the manner in which Rybakina dismissed Halep in the semi-finals was certainly eye-catching. Nerves could very well come into it here with so much at stake and you can expect either player to get edgy when the finish line draws near. It’s a difficult one to call but three sets would not be a surprise so backing this to go to a decider is the suggestion.
