DONNA VEKIC VS JASMINE PAOLINI PREDICTION
Prior to this year, Donna Vekic had failed to go beyond the second round of Wimbledon in eight of her 11 attempts, but she now finds herself in a first ever Grand Slam semi-final. The unseeded Croat dropped the first set against surprise package Lulu Sun in the quarter-finals, but rallied to become the first Croatian woman to make the Wimbledon semi-finals this century.
It’s been a fantastic year on the circuit for Jasmine Paolini, who had previously never even reached the second round at Wimbledon. Now, however, she has an opportunity to reach back-to-back Grand Slam finals after her runner-up finish at last month’s French Open. The 28-year-old was in sensational form in her defeat of Emma Navarro in their quarter-final, and she is hitting the ball with purpose and confidence.
Paolini’s quarter-final victory was a real statement of intent, the Italian completely dominating the match with her powerful groundstrokes and lightning-quick movement. If she delivers a similar performance against Vekic, it could be one-way traffic.
