DOMINIC THIEM VS LUCIANO DARDERI PREDICTION

Austrian star Dominic Thiem has hung on to play one final time at the Erste Bank Open before he retires and he will be desperate to give his fans a few wins to shout about if possible.

Thiem has been plagued by injuries in recent years and his body has forced the 31-year-old to call it a day. The former US Open winner of 2020 could easily have won more Grand Slams in a different had it not been for Rafa Nadal especially given how good Thiem was on clay.

This event was one of the many ATP titles Thiem won and that came back in 2019 when he beat Diego Schwartzman in three sets.

There will be plenty of emotion at the Wiener Stadthalle as Thiem enters centre court to face talented young Italian Luciano Darderi and he is unlikely to get much leniency or any gifts from him. the 22-year-old is just another hot prospect off the conveyor belt coming out of Italy.

Much like Rafa Nadal in Riyadh last week, Thiem has hardly played other than the US Open where he lost in straight sets. His fitness and sharpness is not there and this will surely be his final match as we strongly favour Darderi to have far too much energy and sharpness for the veteran.
