DENIS SHAPOVALOV VS BEN SHELTON PREDICTION
A fascinating encounter lies in store on day five as Denis Shapovalov and Ben Shelton meet with both players having won five set matches to get to this stage. Following their matches on Thursday both going five sets, much will depend on who recovers the best coming into this match as to who will likely win it and there should be indicators early in the match.
Denis Shapovalov started the week with a comfortable straight sets win over Nicolas Jarry but then he had a tough test on Thursday against German Daniel Altmaier who pushed him all the way. 16 double faults did not help his cause and that will be something he will have to limit if not eradicate against Shelton here.
Shelton beat Italian Mattia Bellucci in five on Monday and then had another five set thriller on Thursday against South African Lloyd Harris. Shelton is getting great support at Wimbledon this week and that is helping him get through some of these tight matches. He won against Harris in spite of the South African firing down 31 aces and that will give him confidence coming into this one.
Shelton is the marginal favourite but we cannot split these two which means we prefer the value on Shapovalov. Our preferred route is set betting here and while a five set match seems unlikely as we could easily see one player losing and not having the energy to fightback, we can certainly see this going four sets so take the over 3.5.
