THE PREDICTION

World number 94 Dayana Yastremska beat Tamara Korpatsch in three sets on Monday to get her Cluj Open campaign underway. The 22-year-old has looked impressive on very brief occasions this season but as of yet shows little sign of reaching the heights of her career-high WTA world ranking of 21st. World number 78 Jasmine Paolini is a tough and dogged opponent to face at this level of competition on tour, with a comeback victory over sixth-seed Marta Kostyuk an excellent result to take into this fifth tour-level meeting with Yastremska. Paolini won all three of their first encounters last season before Yastremska beat her en-route to the Lyon Open final back in March. Three sets seem likelier than two, so taking Paolini to win at least a set is the sensible call and to win outright the reasonable risk.
