THE PREDICTION
21-year-old Darja Semenistaja will set a new career-high WTA world ranking of around 110th after coming back from a set down to oust fellow youngster Victoria Jimenez Kasintseva on Tuesday. The Latvian brought some strong form from a recent stint on the ITF circuit in India, winning the Mumbai Challenger three weeks ago, but this should be a much steeper test against world number 64 Xiyu Wang, who is vastly more experienced despite being just one year older. 22-year-old Wang beat Nadia Podoroska in straight sets to get her Austin Open campaign underway and she is coming off of an encouraging defeat after taking the first set from in-form Jelena Ostapenko in Dubai last week. The Chinese has failed to win back-to-back matches since a strong run to the semi-finals of the Auckland Classic last month but this looks the kind fixture to break that streak. Back Wang to win outright.
TIP: XIYU WANG TO WIN
