DANIIL MEDVEDEV VS FRANCES TIAFOE PREDICTION
Daniil Medvedev was not in action on day one and neither was Frances Tiafoe so the pair get underway to kick off the second day in Berlin.
Medvedev had a solid US Open after some poor displays in Canada and then Cincinnati at the two ATP 1000 events prior to that. He was knocked out in the quarters by eventual winner Jannik Sinner but he will have largely been pleased with his performances in New York.
Tiafoe had an outstanding fortnight himself and lost in a five-set thriller to compatriot Taylor Fritz in the semis. It really was a confidence-boosting event for him and he should be full of belief as he returns to action.
The head-to-head does make good reading for Tiafoe however. He has lost all five meetings against Medvedev and only won a single set against him. This version may be a little different and in this event, it could well be that motivation is not quite there for some players. It is hard to make a case for him however and Medvedev if anything, will likely thrive when the pressure is off.
