DANIIL MEDVEDEV VS ALEJANDRO DAVIDOVICH PREDICTION
World number five Daniil Medvedev comes into this time of year which he has openly revealed is his favourite part of the calendar. He has not picked up any titles so far in 2024 but the Russian is playing well and it is only a matter of time until he does get back to lifting a trophy. His performances at Indian Wells and Miami back in March on hard courts will further bolster his confidence coming into this Montreal event.
He finished runner-up to Carlos Alcaraz at Indian Wells and then departed in the semi-finals to Jannik Sinner in Miami so he was incredibly close in those two and there is every chance he will go far this week.
He faces Alejandro Davidovich in the first round and Medvedev has won all four of their previous meetings on the ATP Tour; the last three of which have come on hard courts.
Davidovich has been playing well in the last few weeks in Atlanta and Washington which will give him confidence and he eased past Roman Safiullin in the first round. Medvedev is a major step up however and it is hard to see the Spaniard causing him too many issues. Expect Medvedev, seeded three here, to win in straight sets.
