CASPER RUUD VS TAYLOR FRITZ PREDICTION

Eighth seed Casper Ruud meets number 12 Taylor Fritz on Sunday for a place in the quarter-finals in what should be a highly competitive and entertaining match-up.

Ruud, the 2022 runner-up, has been pushed increasingly as the week has gone on and he had to come from two sets to love down against 19-year-old Juncheng Shang but then won the next three 6-0 6-3 6-1. Against a better player, or perhaps a more experienced one, there would have been no coming back for Ruud and he will have to play much better here.

He meets Fritz who has yet to drop a single set and has only been taken to a tiebreak in one set. The quality of his opponents has also been decent especially in the second round when he had to face Matteo Berrettini.

Ruud however has won both previous meetings with Fritz including at the French Open earlier this year. Both matches have been competitive however and Fritz will have the home support on his side. We think Fritz will have just enough to win this one. Ruud is not as convincing as Fritz so far this week and for that reason, we think the home support will edge Fritz into the quarters.
