THE PREDICTION

World number eight Casper Ruud conceded just three games to Botic van de Zandschulp on Thursday, cementing his place as the clear favourite to defend his title here in Estoril. The 25-year-old has enjoyed an excellent start to 2024 to put some poor form from last season behind him but defeats in back-to-back finals in Los Cabos and Acapulco say he could seriously do with a stress-free route to his 11th ATP title this weekend.

World number 85 Marton Fucsovics looks up for the challenge after an impressive comeback over in-form Gael Monfils on Thursday, backing up a solid opener over clay specialist Pedro Cachin. 32-year-old Fucsovics beat Ruud in their only previous encounter but that came off of the tour and way back in 2017, with Ruud vastly improved in every facet since. The Hungarian is good enough to warrant caution here but Ruud is good enough in these conditions to back to win in two.

TIP: CASPER RUUD TO WIN 2-0
