THE PREDICTION

World number 45 Caroline Garcia grabbed one of the very biggest wins of her career on Friday, ousting the world number one Iga Swiatek and ending her imperious streak on clay. Former world number four Garcia should be considered the heavy favourite for the Poland Open title now having only recently claimed the eighth WTA title of her career at the Bad Homburg Open and this semi-final clash with Jasmine Paolini represents her toughest remaining challenge in Warsaw. The 28-year-old has never lost to Paolini, taking their head-to-head record up to 2-0 earlier this month with a straight sets win at the Lausanne Open, and despite the Italian’s strong results this week there should be marked difference in quality if Garcia finds her best level once again. Take the Frenchwoman to win outright here, with plenty of her recent results seeing a decider required.
