CARLOS ALCARAZ VS MARK LAJAL PREDICTION
Centre court will get an early glimpse of 2023 champion Carlos Alcaraz on day one as the Spanish star will face qualifier Mark Lajal. Alcaraz will be desperate to defend his title this year and will have even more confidence given the fitness concerns over Novak Djokovic coming into this year’s tournament.
Alcaraz is coming off a third Grand Slam victory at Roland Garros at the tender age of 21 and while he lost at Queen’s a couple of weeks ago to Jack Draper, he will rise to the occasion as he seemingly does at every major event these days.
He comes up against Lajal who is the same age as him, but nowhere near his level. While there may be some signs off rustiness and Alcaraz may be slow to get going here, he will not drop a set and expect him to coast into the second round without expending too much energy.
