CAMERON NORRIE VS ALEXANDER ZVEREV PREDICTION
All the chat coming into Wimbledon was how Jack Draper had become Britain’s number one and he was the next kid on the block after usurping Norrie as the highest ranked British player, but Norrie put the marker down on Thursday beating the younger rival in straight sets. That will have given Norrie a huge boost in confidence as he moves into the third round but he cannot rest on his laurels now that he is facing a daunting opponent in Sascha Zverev.
The German eased past Marcos Giron on Thursday in straight sets in much the same way in which he breezed past Roberto Carballes Baena on Tuesday in the first round. Zverev has only ever gone as far as the fourth round at Wimbledon but the way he is playing this week, there is every chance he goes much deeper this time around.
The pair have met five times before and Zverev has won all five encounters. The first four matches were straight sets’ wins for the German and the last one came earlier this year in the Australian Open. Zverev won an absorbing five-set thriller in Norrie’s best display against him so far, but ultimately Zverev got the win.
This will be Zverev’s toughest test this week so far as much as it will be Norrie’s. He will not have it all his own way against Norrie but he should still have enough to win. Expect Zverev to progress but Norrie should take at least a set off him.
