BRANDON NAKASHIMA VS UGO HUMBERT PREDICTION
It has been some start for 22-year-old American Brandon Nakashima who has won both his matches against Sebastian Baez and Jordan Thompson dropping just nine and then seven games respectively across the two matches. To make those wins even more impressive is the fact that he only faced two break points in each of those matches to give some idea of his dominance in those matches.
He now faces Ugo Humbert who has had to graft a little harder as he beat Alexander Shevchenko in five sets and then Botic van de Zandschulp in straights sets. His service was strong in his opening match and that arguably got him through that five-setter but he was not quite at the same level despite the win.
Humbert is the 16th seed and on paper he should have the edge over Nakashima but the American is in good form. They have met previously with Humbert winning in a US Open qualifying match in 2018 when Nakashima was just 16 and then Nakashima won in ATP 1000 Rome qualifying in 2022 6-3 6-3. He may be the underdog here, but Nakashima is our pick to upset the seed.
