BRANDON NAKASHIMA VS ALEXANDER ZVEREV PREDICTION

23-year-old American Brandon Nakashima is thriving in his home Grand Slam and he has already surpassed his previous best in the tournament having reached the third round back in 2022. He has already beaten two seeds in Holger Rune (15) and Lorenzo Musetti (18) and he will be relishing the opportunity to upset another here.

He meets Alexander Zverev who he has never beaten however. He has lost both previous meetings which incidentally both came in Grand Slam events. The first came in 2020 at the US Open and the last one came in the French in 2022. It is fair to say that Nakashima is a much better player now than he was in either of those matches however and we should not read too much into those.

Zverev has been solid in his first three matches so far without being spectacular. The concerning part if the dropped set which he endured against Etcheverry in the third round and Marterer in the first. He simply cannot afford to continue with those lapses as better players like Nakashima will not be as forgiving as his opponents so far.

We favour Zverev to ultimately win this match but Nakashima is certainly good enough to win at least a set. Unless Zverev really does step it up a level for the full match, he is showing enough drops in intensity to see Nakashima get chances. The German should still have just enough to progress though.
