THE PREDICTION
World number 54 Lauren Davis upset Sloane Stephens in three sets on Monday to back-up two battling three-setters in qualifying over the weekend. The 29-year-old won her second WTA title at the Hobart International back in January and she impressed in her previous match on tour, taking Jessica Pegula to three sets before defeat in the first round at Wimbledon. World number 15 Belinda Bencic has beaten Davis in all three of their previous encounters but each of the last two have needed a decider and this could end up a thriller if the American maintains her level. 26-year-old Bencic reached the round of 16 at Wimbledon and took the first set in a proper thriller with Iga Swiatek before defeat. The Swiss has won two WTA titles this season on hardcourts and she could be one to watch for the rest of the season after struggling with injuries in the spring. Bencic was in control against Anastasia Potapova before her opponent retired in the first round and she should have the best of the points here. Take the Swiss to win outright.
