The Brazilian also won the Women's Doubles event in Nottingham alongside Shuai Zhang and she is clearly in the form of her career after finding a new favourite surface, with a straight-sets victory over two-time Wimbledon champion Petra Kvitova on Tuesday an incredible result. World number 91 Magdalena Frech came back from a set down to beat Nuria Parrizas-Diaz on Tuesday but this looks a pretty steep climb up in level. The 24-year-old struggled on grass last week at the Nottingham Open and Haddad-Maia’s result over Kvitova is enough to suggest she can win in straight sets here. The Brazilian has won each of her last six singles matches and four doubles matches on grass.
