ARYNA SABALENKA VS COCO GAUFF PREDICTION
Belarussian star Aryna Sabalenka progressed to the semi-finals with a 6-2 6-2 win over Magdalena Frech on Friday. She was pushed hard by Yulia Putintseva in the round of 16 before that but she looked dominant from the start and eased past Frech.
She now faces Coco Gauff who is in fine form. The 20-year-old American is coming off a triumph in the China Open last week and her confidence is clearly sky high right now. She has beaten Tomova, Kostyuk and then Magda Linette in the quarters and lost a grand total of 12 games across those six sets.
The pair have always had competitive encounters and it is Gauff leading the head-to-head 4-3. They played once this year and that came in the Australian Open which Sabalenka won 7-6 6-4 but it is hard to recall a time when the pair have met and both have been playing so well.
If there was a time, it was the US Open final last year. Gauff won that in three sets. We could easily see this one going the distance but it is Gauff that we marginally prefer. Sabalenka’s consistency has just dropped a little this week and it is Gauff who is on a relentless run right now. That can obviously end at any point but it is hard to go against her. We edge the game betting and over 21.5 here.
