Arthur Fils produced an outstanding display in the first round as he knocked out top seed Taylor Fritz 6-4 3-6 6-3. The talented Frenchman has had a mixed season but has shown he is more than capable of upsetting and mixing it with the best players in the world.

His task does not get much easier as he now faces Matteo Berrettini in the round of 16. The popular Italian is working his way back up the rankings and he eased past Botic van de Zandschulp in straight sets to reach this stage.

Berrettini is looking sharp right now and his record this year stands at 25-7 – right up there with the top echelon of players. He continues to be a little underrated given his ranking sees him at number 45 but he will be looking to do well to drive his ranking up further ahead of next year. He should have enough to beat Fils here.
