THE PREDICTION

19-year-old Arthur Fils will set a new career-high ATP world ranking of 34th on Monday after reaching the semi-finals of the Auckland Classic but he just missed out on a debut seeding at the Australian Open. That will make the Frenchman a very dangerous player to draw in the early rounds in Melbourne, and this match warrants caution as he may yet pull out to focus on Melbourne, but he stands a very good chance at making the final for a likely Next Gen blockbuster with Ben Shelton. Fils was on top of Daniel Altmaier before his opponent retired injured on Wednesday whilst world number 82 Alejandro Tabilo enjoyed a walkover through to the semi-finals after Cam Norrie pulled out of the tournament. 26-year-old Tabilo is a gutsy competitor with four wins under his belt this week from qualifying through to an upset over Botic van de Zandschulp but this first meeting with Fils should be too steep a climb. Back Fils to win outright but wait for the match to be confirmed.

TIP: ARTHUR FILS TO WIN
