THE PREDICTION

Former world number one Andy Murray moved back into the top 100 at the start of this week and he has since made strides into the top 80 after beating Montpellier Open champion Alexander Bublik in straight sets in Wednesday. The 34-year-old looked solid against Bublik but he faces his toughest opponent this season in world number nine Felix Auger-Aliassime, who took Daniil Medvedev to five sets before defeat in the quarter-finals of the Australian Open last month. The 21-year-old started sluggishly against Egor Gerasimov on Wednesday but coming back from a set down to beat the Belarussian will set him up well for this round of 16 clash. Auger-Aliassime beat Murray in straight sets in their only previous meeting at the US Open back in 2020 but Murray is much better shape this time around. The Canadian should come through the winner here but taking him to win at least a set is the sensible move.
