ANDREY RUBLEV VS TARO DANIEL PREDICTION
World number six Andrey Rublev won the Madrid Masters earlier this month, stunning Carlos Alcaraz in three sets in the quarter-finals, to put himself in the conversation at this wide open Roland-Garros.
The 26-year-old won his first Masters title at the Monte-Carlo Open last season, also on clay, to prove himself one of the more effective all-courters around but there is always the question of his ceiling at Grand Slam level – with a quarter-final exit to Jannik Sinner at the Australian Open in January his 10th last eight exit at a major.
A shock exit to Alexandre Muller in the third round of Rome last time out is of some concern but the Russian, who was suffering an odd health complaint throughout Madrid and Rome, should be recovered enough to avoid an upset here.
World number 82 Taro Daniel can be a tough competitor at this level, and he is probably at his best on clay, but Rublev leads their head-to-head 2-0 as things stand and he should maintain that lead here.
