THE PREDICTION
World number nine Andrey Rublev made it four in a row over Dominic Thiem on Saturday with a confident straight-sets victory. The 24-year-old dropped a set against Ilya Ivashka in the round of 16 but he is has since improved and beaten three tough foes to reach the Gijon Open final, his first final on tour since claiming the Serbia Open back in April. The Russian has 11 ATP titles to his name after taking a further three already this season and he looks the fairly firm favourite to edge this potential thriller with world number 47 Sebastian Korda after winning their first encounter at last season’s Miami Open. 22-year-old Korda beat Arthur Rinderknech in straight sets on Saturday to back-up some excellent results over Andy Murray and Roberto Bautista Agut but Rublev has won over half of his finals on tour and, notably, all but one of his ATP 250 finals. Back Rublev to edge this contest on grit alone.
