World number eight Andrey Rublev beat Jack Draper in straight sets on Tuesday to get his Washington Open campaign underway. The 24-year-old has added three ATP titles this year to his career total of 11 with wins at the Open 13 in Marseille, the Dubai Tennis Championships and the Serbia Open on clay, with six of that number coming at this ATP 500 level. This looks a really tough time to meet world number 32 Maxime Cressy for a first time, though, as the American brings a five-match winning streak to the round of 16 after beating Jack Sock from a set down on Wednesday. 25-year-old Cressy recently claimed a maiden ATP title at the Hall of Fame Open on grass, his third final this season, and the serve-and-volley throwback looks set for a fruitful remainder of the season on a surface that suits his power game. Rublev is a brick wall but if Cressy brings his best game the Russian may struggle to find enough returns to get into a rallies. Back in-form Cressy to win at least a set here and leave the winner up to chance.
