Predicting Andrey Rublev’s matches remains incredibly difficult as he easily switches from the sublime to the ridiculous. The talented Russian stunned world number one Jannik Sinner in the quarters on Saturday night to earn a place in the semis and now he faces another Italian in Matteo Arnaldi.
Assuming his motivation remains high, he surely has to be favoured to reach the final. The quality of his play this week has been exceptional but this is the kind of match which can easily see his motivation and focus wane and the upset could come.
Arnaldi is playing well and will be buoyed by the fact that he beat Rublev in the French Open earlier this year. Rublev will prefer the hard court surface however and based on their levels of performance this week, one has to favour Rublev. But be wary as ever when backing the unpredictable Russian.
