ANDREY RUBLEV VS ALEJANDRO DAVIDOVICH FOKINA PREDICTION

Andrey Rublev is enjoying this hard court leg of the ATP Tour and the 26-year-old Russian will fancy his chances of going far this week. He beat Pablo Carreno Busta in the first round and that will prepare him nicely stylistically to face Alejandro Davidovich Fokina in the round of 16.

The 25-year-old Spaniard had a three-setter of his own against China’s Zhizhen Zhang in the first round. He played pretty well in that match but he will have to raise his game for Rublev. He lost in the first round in his two previous tournaments – the US Open and Cincinnati – and his general form has been pretty poor.

That does not bode well when facing the quality of the likes of Rublev. The Russian has also won all four previous meetings against Davidovich Fokina on the ATP Tour and given that dominance and the level of play in recent times, Rublev simply has to be favoured.
