ALEXEI POPYRIN VS NOVAK DJOKOVIC PREDICTION
Alexei Popyrin is enjoying the best form of his career right now and the 25-year-old will come into this match with no fear. Popyrin won the Canadian Open and while he was eliminated in his first match in Cincinnati, that was likely due to the emotional and physical come down after that title win. He has not lost a beat and is already playing some fine tennis in New York.
Kwon Soon-woo and Pedro Martinez have been comfortably dismissed by Popyrin so far and 28th seed will now relish the opportunity to test himself against the legend that is Novak Djokovic.
The Serb has cantered through the first two rounds and has been able to preserve his energy but play himself into some form. He has played Popyrin three times before including at both the Aussie Open and Wimbledon this year, and won each time.
Interesting to note that Popyrin won a set in both of those Grand Slam matches. We would not be surprised to see him become the first player to take a set off him in this event also. Popyrin is playing really well and while beating Djokovic would be a huge ask, we have confidence in him winning a set with the Serb progressing.
