THE PREDICTION

World number three Alexander Bublik put on a serving clinic against a slightly jaded Frances Tiafoe on Monday to make a big statement at the Paris Masters. The 26-year-old won the most prestigious title of his career at the Halle 500 back in June and he came within a hair’s breadth of making the quarter-finals at Wimbledon in a thrilling five-set exit to Andrey Rublev before enduring a poor run. That run ended with his third ATP title at the European Open two weeks ago and his bounce back from an early exit in Basel last week makes him a considerable threat to the equilibrium here in Paris. World number 20 Nicolas Jarry possesses many of the same powerful qualities as the Kazakh but none of the maverick lunacy than makes Bublik such an erratic, enigmatic talent.

28-year-old Jarry beat big-serving Alexei Popyrin in two tight sets on Monday to maintain his excellent recent form but if Bublik can put in back-to-back performances he could have too much for the Chilean. The suitably cautious move is backing Jarry to win at least a set but it is always wise to leave Bublik’s matches out of an accumulator, so consider taking at least a tiebreak here to avoid siding with anyone at all.

BETTING TIP: Over 0.5 tiebreaks.
