26-year-old Alexander Bublik brings a career-high ATP world ranking of 18th into the Monte-Carlo Masters after enjoying his best, most consistent form on tour over the past 12 or so months. The Kazakh won his fourth ATP title at the Montpellier Open in February, beating Borna Coric from a set down, and then again in Rotterdam to lead their head-to-head 3-0 but this looks like the Croat’s match to lose as the far more comfortable clay courter. World number 32 Coric has struggled for form for the majority of the season, enjoying a brief blip of good fortune in Montpellier, but he will back himself to overcome Bublik’s mammoth serving in these slower conditions by the sea. Backing Bublik to earn a set could be the suitably cautious move given his record but back Coric to do the same to leave the victor up to chance.
