ALEXANDER BUBLIK VS BEN SHELTON PREDICTION
Alexander Bublik will come into this match with Ben Shelton with plenty of confidence having beaten him twice in the last year at the ATP 1000 in Rome in 2023 and then the ATP 1000 in Madrid earlier this year. Both of those wins came on clay however and Shelton will certainly be much more confident on his preferred hard court surface.
Bublik played in the Olympics but was knocked out in the opening round against Taylor Fritz, and his form in recent weeks has been pretty average since he won the ATP 250 event in Open Sud de France back at the start of February.
Shelton is making his debut in this event and he will be fired up to do well this week. Shelton reached the semis in Washington last week which will give him good confidence ahead of this one although there are a few signs of him struggling a little these days to live up to the hype that so many of his impressive performances early in his career have led to. He will expect to do well and having lost twice to Bublik will only serve to motivate him more.
It will not be easy however and Bublik will push him hard. There is every chance this could go all three sets and we marginal edge Shelton on recent form to progress but be wary of this one.
