ALEX MICHELSEN VS STEFANOS TSITSIPAS PREDICTION
Alex Michelsen returns to action this week after the US Open where he came unstuck against eventual winner and world number one Jannik Sinner. He has since turned 20-years-old and he has come to Tokyo aiming for another strong week to continue his impressive 2024.
He has come through two qualifying rounds by beating Yasutaka Uchiyama and Borna Coric in straight sets and now has earned a match with Stefanos Tsitsipas.
The Greek is seed number four for this event and he comes from Berlin having participated for Team Europe in the Laver Cup. Tsitsipas picked up a win in his sole singles matches against Thanasi Kokkinakis and that will serve to give him some much-needed confidence given his challenging few months.
Tsitsipas is wildly inconsistent and difficult to read right now but he may relish these slightly lower key tournaments as he looks to get back on track. Michelsen is far from a pushover, but assuming Tsitsipas is sufficiently motivated, he should have the quality to get the win and progress here.
