ALEX DE MINAUR VS OTTO VIRTANEN PREDICTION

Alex De Minaur got through his first round match and looked comfortable from a physical perspective so that will be the biggest relief for the 25-year-old Australian.

His performance was fine if a little rusty and he will know that there are plenty of areas for improvement as he had more double faults (12) than aces (9) and he only managed 41% on his first serve.

He won the match however and he came through it unscathed so that gives him something to build on as he looks to his next match in the second round against Otto Virtanen.

The Finnish 23-year-old is another player that has had to come all the way through qualifying and he has had some tough matches so far. He has beaten Liam Broady, Paul Jubb and Lucas Pouille in the qualifying rounds, and then he beat Quentin Halys in four sets in the first round.

He has been efficient and effective so far but De Minaur obviously represents a major step up in quality. Much will depend on how much De Minaur improves based on his rusty opener but we expect him to get the win with Virtanen winning at least a set.
