THE PREDICTION

25-year-old Alejandro Tabilo set a career-high ATP world ranking of 64th earlier this summer after finishing runner-up to Albert Ramos-Vinolas at the Cordoba Open and he has enjoyed a breakthrough season on tour after also impressing at the ATP Cup. The Chilean is playing his US Open debut here but the conditions better-suit his opponent in world number 90 Kamil Majchrzak, who reached the third round here on his debut back in 2019. The Pole has not won since early June at the Libema Open and he comes in a little cold with just one Challenger match on a hardcourt in his legs since losing to Thanasi Kokkinakis at Wimbledon. It is tough to make a case for an obvious winner here but Tabilo should have enough about him to earn at least a set with the more recent match practice.
