THE PREDICTION

World number 46 Alejandro Davidovich Fokina claimed the best ranking win of his career on Tuesday with a three-set victory over world number one Novak Djokovic. The Spaniard will not care that Djokovic was well off his mercurial best having played just three times this season before Tuesday’s encounter and he should benefit from the confidence boost here on a surface that suits him. Former world number seven David Goffin will be a tough test, though, as he extended his winning streak on clay to seven after an impressive straight-sets victory over Dan Evans on Wednesday. Goffin won the Grand Prix Hassan II last week in a much easier field but the Belgian looks hungry again after enduring the worst form of his career over the last two seasons. Goffin was the winner of their only previous encounter at ‘s-Hertogenbosch back in 2019 but ADF is probably the better on clay. Take the 22-year-old to win at least a set as the likelier of two very capable winners.
