THE PREDICTION
World number 13 Grigor Dimitrov looked in good shape in his first match back from a few weeks out through injury, beating Alexandre Muller to open his Indian Wells account. The 32-year-old won his only Masters title at the Cincinnati Open in 2017, the same season he claimed his most prestigious trophy at the ATP Finals, but he snapped a six-year drought with victory at the Brisbane 500 in January and four finals reached within the past 12 months suggests he could be a serious factor at this level this season.
World number 21 Adrian Mannarino conceded just three games to Tomas Machac in a surprisingly one-sided affair given both his opponent’s recent results and his own struggles over the past few tournaments. The 35-year-old brought a three-match losing streak into Indian Wells but a brilliant 2023 season saw three ATP titles claimed at 250 level and he began this season in much the same vein, stunning Ben Shelton in five thrilling sets to reach the round of 16 at the Australian Open. Dimitrov convincingly leads their head-to-head 4-0 but two of their four encounters have seen sets go both ways. Back the Bulgarian to win outright with both players coming into the draw a little unsteadily.
TIP: GRIGOR DIMITROV TO WIN
