World number 23 Botic van de Zandschulp beat Benjamin Bonzi in straight sets to continue a perfect run at the Winston-Salem Open. The 26-year-old is coming up to the anniversary of his best showing to date after he reached the quarter-finals of the US Open last season as a relative unknown and took the only set from eventual champion Daniil Medvedev’s fortnight in a four-set defeat. One more win will see Van de Zandschulp into a second tour final and he will be desperate to do so after an injury saw him concede the Munich Open to Holger Rune back in April. World number 65 Adrian Mannarino is a dangerous player at this level, though, and he has ousted some serious opponents this week – especially in-form Maxime Cressy on Thursday in impressive straight sets. Van de Zandschulp won their first meeting in two at the start of the season and it is hard to see Mannarino levelling things but with three sets a distinct possibility back the Dutchman to win outright here.
