THE PREDICTION
World number 22 Karolina Muchova beat in-form Camila Giorgi over three sets on Thursday in a sometimes nervous performance but she has faced two tough opponents so far. The 19th seed made the quarter-finals of Wimbledon on her debut back in 2019 and the semi-finals of the Australian Open earlier this year so she is certainly a dark horse for a deep run this campaign. In her way is a seasoned winner in Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova, who is yet to drop a set this campaign in strong wins over Ana Bogdan and Krystina Pliskova. The Russian 16th seed is playing across all three draws this year after finally breaking her quarter-final duck at Roland-Garros last month with some of her best tennis to date.
29-year-old Pavlyuchenkova leads their head-to-head record 2-0 after a straight-sets win in the quarter-finals of the Madrid Open earlier this season and a Kremlin Cup win in 2019 but both matches were hard-fought and this looks able to reach the two-hour mark. On recent form, take Roland-Garros finalist Pavlyuchenkova to win at least a set in what could be a thriller on Saturday.
