THE PREDICTION

World number four Aryna Sabalenka overcame a potential banana skin in the injury-hampered Maria Camila Osorio Serrano on Friday, conceding just three games in her best display so far. The 23-year-old has a huge chance at winning her first Grand Slam here with so many seeds dropping out of the draw but there are some truly dangerous players left in the tournament and four of the last five people to have defeated her this year are in the round of 16. World number 20 Elena Rybakina is going along nicely out of the spotlight so far with three-successive straight-sets wins over some tough opponents. The 22-year-old will be confident of pulling the upset here just as she did in the round of 16 of her last Grand Slam where she beat Serena Williams in straight sets.

Sabalenka and Rybakina have shared two three-set quarter-final battles on hard courts at Wuhan in 2019 and Abu Dhabi earlier this year with the Belarusian wining both of them. This should be a close-run right but second seed Sabalenka looks to be finally growing into the tournament on a surface she has not always looked comfortable on but certainly has the game for. Take Sabalenka to win at least a set here as the likeliest of two players well capable of reaching the quarter-finals.
