THE LOWDOWN
OSCAR OTTE
Oscar Otte has managed to reach the main draw for the first time at the fourth attempt of asking and he will relish this opportunity. The 27-year-old has enjoyed a solid season but his best performances have come on clay and the shift to grass here will not suit him. He came close to upsetting Alexander Zverev in the French Open a few weeks back after winning the first two sets, but he eventually was valiantly beaten. Wimbledon offers a completely different test though and he is unlikely to hit the heights this week.
ARTHUR RINDERKNECH
25-year-old Frenchman Arthur Rinderknech is enjoying an excellent year having reached the first round of the French and now Wimbledon. The 6 ft 5 in right-hander had a good week at Halle in Germany on grass in the build-up where he reached the round of 16 so he has some form on grass coming into this week. He is capable of getting a win or two on his main draw debut at SW19 and he has a favourable match up here.
THE PREDICTION
Two relative unknowns meet in this first round clash as Oscar Otte and Arthur Rinderknech both make their debuts in the main draw. They have met once before and it was Otte who was victorious but that was on clay last year which will be a different proposition to this game. Rinderknech looked good in Halle last week and he can avenge that previous loss and move into round two with a win here.
