19-year-old Lorenzo Musetti lived up to his hype yet again in a thrilling three-set win over Sardegna Open first seed Dan Evans. The Italian saved four match points against Evans in a high-quality encounter to continue his Miami Open form and he looks a real contender for title now. World number 57 Laslo Djere overcame John Millman on Friday evening in assured fashion and the 25-year-old Serb is an expert on clay but he will have to play even better against Musetti, whom he beat in the semi-finals of Sardinia last season via a retirement through injury. Less than a year later, Musetti is an altogether tougher prospect and looks a danger on clay as well as hard courts. His three sets against Evans came as a fluctuation in focus from both players and that could be a marker of the teenager’s matches this year, win or lose, so taking Musetti to win in three sets here seems the likeliest outcome.
