THE PREDICTION
World number 111 Sebastian Baez has proven to be the Next Gen ATP Finals surprise package after a three-set victory over Hugo Gaston on Thursday saw him usurp home favourite Lorenzo Musetti through to the semi-finals. The Argentine was a last-minute entrant after Jenson Brooksby pulled out and in keeping with a 2021 season full of lucky losers rising to the challenge he will be a tough opponent for Carlos Alcaraz on Friday. Still, 18-year-old Alcaraz remains the favourite to lift the trophy on Saturday after winning each of his three Group A matches so far. Juan Manuel Cerundolo managed to snatch a set from the Spaniard to spoil a perfect record and that makes taking Alcaraz to win in three sets a slight risk here, especially as Baez has been playing out of his skin in Milan. Alcaraz to win outright is the clear choice here for an accumulator but taking him to win in three could be a worthwhile punt.
