THE PREDICTION

This match is on a tight-rope with both Brandon Nakashima and Holger Rune owning identical records after two Next Gen ATP Finals matches. Both players have beaten Juan Manuel Cerundolo in four sets and both have lost to Carlos Alcaraz, already through from Group A, in straight sets. 18-year-old Rune has some solid hardcourt experience behind him this season with an impressive win over Lorenzo Sonego at the Moselle Open and a set taken off Novak Djokovic at the US Open back in September. However, the Danish rising star is still very much at his best on the clay, with these conditions in Milan suiting Nakashima much better.

20-year-old Nakashima made consecutive finals this summer at the Los Cabos Open and Atlanta Open, losing to Cam Norrie and John Isner respectively, but wins on the surface over Isner on two other occasions, including in three vastly impressive sets at the US Open, Milos Raonic and Dan Evans make him look the solid favourite to come through. Take the American to win outright, with this match looking like it could go the distance for a dogfight.
