THE PREDICTION
World number seven Alexander Zverev is the second seed here in Acapulco and has played like one so far with back-to-back comfortable straight-set victories over Spanish wonderkid Carlos Alcaraz and on Thursday Laslo Djere. The German finished runner-up to Nick Kyrgios at the Mexican Open back in 2019 and looks good for a second shot at a title here with either of Stefanos Tsitsipas or Felix Auger-Aliassime likely to be his main threat. World number 25 Casper Ruud will be his toughest challenge yet but the Norwegian has yet to find his best gear this season and is in his first tournament back after pulling out of the round of 16 at the Australian Open just over a month ago. If this were on his favoured clay it could be Ruud coming through or at least forcing a decider but the likelihood here is that Zverev can continue his assault on the draw in straight sets.
