This looks a tight result to call between worlds number 25 Petra Martic and number 31 Jessica Pegula with both playing exceptionally well at the Italian Open. Martic has fought back twice from a set down against both Shelby Rogers and most recently Serena Williams’ vanquisher Nadia Podoroska to reach this stage and the Croatian is the better suited to the clay in Rome. However, 27-year-old Pegula beat world number two Naomi Osaka on Wednesday and is yet to drop a set in this campaign.
