THE PREDICTION
Man of the moment Lorenzo Sonego is on an impressive rise up the ranks after his incredible run to the Vienna Open final last weekend, and the Italian reached a career-high 32nd in the ATP rankings off the back of that. He then convincingly beat the enigmatic Alexander Bublik in the opening round of the Paris Masters on Tuesday to suggest his form is here to stay at the tail-end of the season. There is an air of Daniil Medvedev about the 25-year-old and 2021 promises to be quite the year if he keeps this up. He will face a tough competitor in Alex de Minaur who recently lost to another rising star, Ugo Humbert, in the European Open final before taking last week off to recover. The Australian did well to win a match he was expected to take comfortably but this second round encounter should be an incredible watch. The pair have not met on court before but then again very few players have yet met this new-look Sonego who is playing with such fierce intensity that could carry him quite deep into this Masters event. The Italian looks the man inform here and can beat De Minaur on Wednesday.
