THE PREDICTION
Jordan Thompson snatched the best win of his 2020 season when he came back from a set down to beat the in-form Croatian. The 26-year-old Aussie has been rewarded for his efforts with a first meeting with Rafael Nadal and Thompson will be more than up for it when he takes to Centre Court. Currently ranked at world number 61, Thompson’s great strength is his attitude and he will enjoy playing for every point against the great Spaniard. World number two Nadal had a tough night on Wednesday, losing the first set to friend and compatriot Feliciano Lopez before coming back to take the decider but it was his first hard-court match for some time and the 33-year-old will be the better for it here. If Thompson takes a leaf from Lopez’ book he could force a tiebreak against Nadal but that is as far as it should go for the Australian as Nadal can beat him in straight-sets nonetheless.
